Albion, Calvin Send Distance Runners to 2018 NCAA Women's Indoor Championships

Two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's indoor track and field distance runners will represent their institutions and the conference at the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships March 9-10, hosted by Birmingham Southern College and the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Albion's Cassie Vince, the MIAA champion and meet record holder in the 5,000m run, qualified for both the 5,000m and 3,000m distances. Vince's converted time of 17:01.72 in the 5,000m Run (17:09.54 actual) at the MIAAs seeds her ninth in the event, while her time of 9:44.53 in the 3,000mRun at Grand Valley State earlier this year is seeded seventh.

Calvin's Katie Diekema is the 11th seed in the 1-Mile Run after posting a season-best time of 4:55.52 at Grand Valley State. Diekema, the 2018 MIAA Women's Most Valuable Runner, was a two-time winner in the 1-mile run and 3,000m run at the conference championship.

Vince will compete in the 5,000m Run final Friday evening, with the 3,000m Run final slated for Saturday evening. Diekema will run the 1-mile prelims Friday afternoon.
