Hope Hoists MIAA Women's Tennis Championship Trophy

Hope secured their sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament by winning the MIAA Tournament title Friday with a 5-1 victory over Kalamazoo at VandePoel-Heeringa Stadium. The Flying Dutch will represent the MIAA in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament and will learn their placement Monday, May 8.

The Flying Dutch owned a 2-1 lead after doubles, winning at No. 3 (8-1) and No. 2 (8-6) positions. In singles, Hope then were victorious at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles; Hope's Quincey Glupker secured the team title with her 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles. The early end halted a back-and-forth battle at No. 1 singles, where Hope's Nancy Benda and Kalamazoo's Maria Franco were on pace to head to a third set.

Hope's Claire Hallock was a two-time winner, with her win at No. 3 doubles pairing with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles.
