Kalamazoo's Metzler, Murphy and Woods receive ITA Region Awards

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced today that two Kalamazoo tennis players and one coach as recipents of awards for the 2016. 

Senior Sarah Woods was named the Central Region Senior Player of the Year and the National Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship award winner. Woods finished her MIAA career with a perfect singles record of 30-0. Her regular season single record was 21-4.

Junior Branden Metzler was named the Central Region Player to Watch after earning MIAA MVP and 1st Team All-MIAA for the third consecutive season. Metzler finished his third MIAA season boasting an undefeated career record of 17-0 and an overall singles record of 26-1 in 2016.

Head women's tennis coach, Mark Murphy, was selected as the Central Region Coach of the year. This is his second time earning this honor in his 11 year tenure at Kalalmazoo College.
