The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Hope's Carli Capestany its Player of the Week in women's tennis for meets played through April 26.
Capestany, a senior from Hudsonville (Hudsonville HS), tied a Hope single-season record for doubles victories, teaming up with Nancy Benda for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles over Trine. She now has a 24-5 record in doubles this season. Capestany also had a straight-set win at No. 2 singles against Trine, 6-1, 6-3, to improve her singles record for the season to 20-5. Capestany is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in her career.
