Around the MIAA

The Adrian College women’s soccer team had one match last week, winning on the road at Alma in a non-conference match, 1-0. The second straight shutout for the Bulldogs was once again split between goalkeepers, with junior Ayverie Giller and sophomore Kristen Page each playing a half. The lone goal was scored by freshman McKenna Mahoney, her team-leading third goal of the season.

Albion (3-5-1, 0-0)

Goalkeeper Megan Bricely (Troy, Mich./Marian) collected seven saves in the match at Wilmington (Ohio) last Saturday. She has collected at least seven saves in five of the eight contests she has played this season.

Alma (2-6-0, 0-0)

The Alma women's soccer team dropped two games, including one in the final minute, last week. Freshman defender Ashley Oldham (Gilbert, Ariz./Chandler Basha) scored her first-career goal against Franklin on Saturday. Sophomore goalkeeper Ally Wentworth (Mt. Pleasant, Mich./Mt. Pleasant) made a career-high 13 saves against Adrian on Wednesday, eight more than her previous career-high.

No. 13 Hope (6-0-1, 0-0)

The 13th-ranked Hope College women's soccer team went 2-0 last week with two non-league wins — shutting our Elmhurst College 4-0 at home on Tuesday and and winning 3-0 at John Carroll on Saturday. The Flying Dutch are now 6-0-1 on the season. Rachael Braginton scored twice vs. Elmhurst. Rylie Dalton had a goal and an assist at John Carroll.

Kalamazoo (5-2-1, 0-0)

The Kalamazoo College women’s soccer team won its only match of the week; a 9-0 victory over Manchester Sept. 19. The Hornets fired off 48 shots in the match with 20 of those being on goal. Libby Munoz led the way for Kalamazoo with her first hat trick of the season. Josie Sibley added two goals and an assist in the match. Joy Hunziker, Amiee Hutton, Kai Ketola, and Catie Stamper all scored for Kalamazoo, as well.

Olivet (4-2-2, 0-0)

The Olivet College women's soccer team shutout Defiance (Ohio) College, 6-0, in its only game last week. Senior Emma Essen scored two goals to lead the Comets. Also, senior Ann Fetzer tallied her first collegiate goal for Olivet's final goal. In the win, the Comets out-shot Defiance, 25-1.

Saint Mary's (4-5-0, 0-0)

The Belles split results on the week with a 5-2 setback at North Park on Tuesday and a 2-0 win over Bluffton at home on Saturday. Sophie Bubnar registered three of the team's goals on the week and added an assist on the fourth goal. Thallia Robles had the clean sheet against the Beavers in goal on Saturday.
