Week #2 recap from Sept. 5-11
• Adrian started MIAA play with a 2-1 week, notching a road victory at Alma Sept. 6 and a home win against Trine Sept. 11. In Monday's 2-0 win over Trine, the Bulldogs held the Thunder to just four shots on the day.
• Calvin added three wins to improve to 5-0-0 overall; as a result, the Knights are receiving votes in the Sept. 12 release of the United Soccer Coaches national poll and are fourth in the region. In a 3-1 non-conference win over previously unbeaten Heidelberg, three different players scored to boost the Knights.
• Hope moved into #19 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll Sept. 12, as the Flying Dutch improved to 5-0-0 overall and 3-0-0 in MIAA action heading into two league games this week against second-place Calvin and regionally-ranked Kalamazoo. Hope has won their last four games via shutout.
• Kalamazoo stamped their name in the regional rankings, starting the season ranked seventh in the Central Region by the United Soccer Coaches. The Hornets bounced back from a 2-1 setback to fellow regionally-ranked MIAA team Calvin Sept. 6 with two MIAA wins, including a 7-0 home win over Saint Mary's Sept. 9.
• Olivet lost their first contest of the season, a 4-0 setback to now nationally-ranked Hope Sept. 11. The Comets tallied two MIAA wins, a 3-0 shutout at Saint Mary's and a 4-1 victory against Alma Sept. 9.
• Earning MIAA Athlete of the Week honors for Sept. 11 were:
- Defense: Katie Rush, Olivet
- Offense: Hilary Curry, Hope
• In the Sept. 12 release of the United Soccer Coaches Division III national poll, Hope was ranked 19th in the country while Calvin earned votes toward national ranking. At the regional level, Hope ranked third in the Central Region, while Calvin came in at fourth; Kalamazoo was also ranked, coming in at seventh.
