Week #1 wrap-up from Sept. 1-4

• Alma tallied a pair of road draws to start the season, including a 0-0 tie at Concordia (Minn.) Sept. 3. Goalkeeper Kelsey Postema (Sr., GK, Marshall, Mich.) earned the shutout with seven saves.

• Calvin registered two road wins in non-conference play, shuting out Lake Forest Sept. 1, 3-0, and adding a 2-1 win at MSOE Sept. 2. On the weekend, Abby Koops (Fr., M, Holland, Mich.) scored three goals, including both strikes against MSOE Saturday.

• Hope flip-flopped Calvin's non-conference start to the season, defeating MSOE Sept. 1, 4-2, before cruising to a 9-0 win against Lake Forest Sept. 2. In the 9-0 win over Lake Forest, the Flying Dutch exploded for seven second-half goals. 

• Olivet was perfect in two non-conference contests away from home, defeating Franklin Sept. 1, 2-1, and Rose-Hulman Sept. 3, 2-0. Freshman goalkeeper Brooklyn Holley (Fr., GK, DeWitt, Mich.) was stellar in her collegiate debut weekend, notching 18 saves over two games, including 10 in the shutout win over Rose-Hulman. Isabelle Leon (Sr., F, Grand Rapids, Mich.) had the game-winner against Franklin and added two assists on the weekend.

• Saint Mary's received an offensive boost from McKenna O'Shea (Fr., F, Jackson, Mich.), who scored all six goals for the Belles. In Saint Mary's 4-1 win at Manchester Sept. 3, O'Shea's four-goal effort set a record for most goals in a game. Her efforts on the week earned her United Soccer Coaches' National Player of the Week honors.

• Trine put up a pair of victories during the opening weekend, defeating Manchester Sept. 1, 6-1, before a 1-0 shutout at Illinois Tech Sept. 3. Morgan Sanderson (So., F, Leo, Mich.) shook the nets for a hat trick in Trine's win over Manchester.

• Earning MIAA Athlete of the Week honors for Sept. 5 were:
