Four MIAA Women's Soccer Players Selected CoSIDA Academic All-District

Four Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's soccer players were recognized for their achievement both on the field and in the classroom Thursday with their selection to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District NCAA Division III District 6 team.

Calvin's Kali Mouw (Jr., D, Avon, N.Y.), Kalamazoo's Christina Dandar (Sr., D, Harrison Twp., Mich.), and Olivet's Ann Fetzer (Jr., D, Holly, Mich.) and Isabelle Leon (Sr., F, Grand Rapids, Mich.) were voted to the All-District team and are now eligible for Academic All-America honors.

Mouw, a first-team All-MIAA selection, owns a 3.98 grade-point average in recreational therapy and aided Calvin in posting seven shutouts in 2017.

Dandar now advances to the national ballot after earning Academic All-America (Third Team) honors last year. She was a three-time All-MIAA selection and owns a 3.99 GPA in psychology.

Fetzer garnered MIAA Defensive Player of the Week this fall in aiding Olivet in finishing second in the league standings and advancing to the MIAA Tournament championship game. Fetzer is pursuing a degree in actuarial science with a 3.97 GPA.

Leon, the 2017 MIAA Most Valuable Player, was a Third Team Academic All-American in 2016. A criminal justice major with a 3.94 GPA, Leon posted 17 goals and 11 assists as a senior this past fall.

CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 6 includes Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Members of CoSIDA from the district vote on Academic All-District honors. Student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
