Hope Women's Soccer Suffers First MIAA Loss At Kalamazoo

Forward Grace Bubin scored her first collegiate goal for the 24th-ranked Hope College women's soccer team during a 2-1 loss at Kalamazoo on Wednesday.

The Flying Dutch slipped to 10-2-1 overall and 7-1-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play. They are now in second place in the league standings.

Bubin, a freshman from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS), recorded an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute to tie the score at 1-1.

Kalamazoo (5-6-1, 5-3-1 MIAA), grabbed the lead back 7:25 into the second half to earn a split of the season's meetings.

Sophomore goalie Mary Clare Theis of East Lansing, Michigan (Haslett HS), made seven saves for the Flying Dutch.

Hope returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Adrian.
