Sarnecky, Troost lift Albion to league victory

ALBION, Mich. - Albion College was determined to pounce on its scoring chances after taking a 1-0 loss to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Kalamazoo College on Tuesday.

Enter Domenique Sarnecky. The junior forward from Canton got her head on Jenna Urso's crossing pass, Caroline Eagan's corner kick and Lauren Cross' pass as Albion built a first-half lead and coasted to a 3-0 victory over Adrian College on a rainy, windy and raw Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

"It was a nice response from the Kalamazoo game," Albion Head Coach Eric Scott said after his team improved to 4-4 against league rivals. "We took our chances better and tried not to take things for granted. We did good things off set pieces."

Sarnecky scored on all three of her shots. Eagan and Urso produced two shots apiece.

Goalkeeper Maggie Troost made a couple of diving saves – and four overall – in achieving her fourth shutout of the season.

Albion (6-5 overall) has a Wednesday home match against Saint Mary's College. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
