Calvin Outpaces Saint Mary's to Win MIAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Trailing 3-1 after a quick start by Saint Mary's, the Calvin women's lacrosse team caught fire and scored eight consecutive goals in the first half on the way to a 16-8 victory Saturday night in the MIAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament championship game.

Emma Verrett scored a game-high five goals, with four coming in the first half and three on free position shots to pace the Knights offensively; Verrett added a team-best five ground balls to go with three caused turnovers and two draw controls.

Calvin's Grace Einfeld, Emma Hall, and Genevieve Schneermann each added three goals.

The Knights will find their NCAA placement Sunday, May 6 at 10 p.m. on NCAA.com.
