Four MIAA Women's Lacrosse Standouts Gain All-Region Distinction from IWLCA

Four Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's lacrosse student-athletes garnered All-Region honors from the Intercollegaite Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) May 17.

Albion's Taylor Nelson was named a First-Team All-Great Lakes Region defender after aiding the Britons in allowing just 7.2 goals per game, a defense that ranks 21st among NCAA Division III programs; Nelson also ranked in the top 15 nationally in both caused turnovers and ground balls.

On the second team were Albion goalkeeper Jenina Villabroza, Calvin attacker Kelly Pepper, and Saint Mary's midfielder Erin Doyle.

Pepper (Most Valuable Player, Offense), Nelson (Most Valuable Player, Defense) and Doyle (Rookie of the Year) were the three MIAA superlative award winners in 2018.

The IWLCA has honored 256 student-athletes in Division III with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2018. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will celebrate the 2018 All-Americans during Divisional All- American Announcement Shows, which will be launched online in mid-June.
