MIAA Women's Lacrosse Week #9 Wrap-Up

• Adrian extended their MIAA winning streak to four with a 2-0 week against conference foes. In a 16-9 win over Alma April 21, Annika Nuler (Jr., M, Canton, Mich.) led all goal scorers with five, while Annie Rice (So., A, Reisterstown, Md.) tallied three goals and two assists to vault the Bulldogs, who posted a 23-5 draw control advantage in the win. Earlier in the week, Adrian prevailed in a 15-14 contest at Albion, when Emily Smith (Fr., A, Tinley Park, Ill.) scored the game's decisive goal with just three seconds left in regulation. It was Smith's third goal of the contest; Rice notched two goals and four assists to lead the Bulldogs in points.

• Albion rebounded from their setback to Adrian mid-week with a 21-6 against Trine April 22. Cait Gaitley (Jr., A, Grosse Pointe, Mich.) had four goals in both halves to lead the Brits on offense, as Albion out-shot Trine 33-17.

• Calvin maintained their unblemished record in MIAA play with two home conference wins last week. Calvin stymied Kalamazoo April 18, 18-1, holding the Hornets to just two shots on the day; Emily Cefaratti (Sr., A, Hinsdale, Mill.) had an all-around effort of six goals, four assists, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers, while Madeline Baas (Jr., M, Grand Rapids, Mich.) had 10 of Calvin's 15 draw controls. The Knights then capped their week with a 16-4 victory over Hope, thanks to an 11-1 lead at the intermission; Amanda Davio (Jr., A, Okemos, Mich.) had eight points on four goals and four assists, as she was involved in five first-half scores.

• Hope defeated Olivet April 18, 25-1, to set a new team record for goals in a game. Thirteen of 16 players that took the field for Hope earned an offensive point, led by a five-point performance (1G, 4A) by Erin Caton (Jr., A, Rochester Hills, Mich.); Caton added four ground balls in the win.

• Saint Mary's improved to 5-1 in MIAA play with their 10-8 victory at home against Kalamazoo April 22. Kate Kelly (So., M, Orland Park, Ill.) had an all-around effort for the Belles, posting four goals, two assists, five draw controls, and five ground balls.

• Trine earned their first MIAA victory of the season with a 17-0 shutout over Olivet April 20; it was their first shutout in program history. Bailey Brown (Sr., A, Sheridan, Ind.) not only led the Thunder offensively with five goals and two assists, but added a team-best five draw controls.
