Saint Mary's Wins 2018 MIAA Women's Golf Championship

The Saint Mary's College women's golf team defended their title as MIAA Champions, as the Belles posted a five-round average of 310.6 strokes to capture the regular season title.

On the way to their repeat title, all five Saint Mary's golfers were first-team All-MIAA performers - the Belles featured five of the six lowest averages over the fall's five rounds; it marked the first time in MIAA history a team's top five golfers were all First-Team All-MIAA.

During the 2018 fall, Saint Mary's set two MIAA Jamboree course records, including an all-time low of 293 at The Ravines Sept. 25. During that round, Hunter Kehoe - the 2018 MIAA Most Valuable Golfer - shot a record-tying two-under 70 to break the course record by five strokes. Saint Mary's also set the team record at Milham Park Sept. 29 with a 306 - a 10-stroke improvement on the previous best - while Summer Stillson carded a one-under 71 to set the course record by three strokes and rank tied for third-best in MIAA history.

In displaying their depth as a team, four Saint Mary's players earned medalist honors over the five MIAA rounds played in the fall of 2018.

The Belles will now host the final two rounds of the 2019 MIAA NCAA Spring Qualifier as Saint Mary's will target a return trip to the NCAA Championships in 2019 after representing the MIAA last year in the national tournament.

Hope, the second-place team through five rounds, will host the initial round of the three-round spring qualifier. Dates and times are to be determined.

Joining Saint Mary's and Hope in the spring tournament will be Albion and Calvin, who finished third and fourth, respectively.
