Women's golf concluded the fall season with the MIAA Fall Tournament at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek, Mich., Oct. 7-8.
• Friday's round featured a record-breaking effort by Hope, as the Dutch fired a team score of 299; it was the first time a team broke 300 in any MIAA event. Nicole Meyer (Jr., Brighton, Mich.) and Britni Gielow (Sr., Norton Shores, Mich.) led with one-over 73s, while teammate Megan Klintworth (Jr., Jackson, Mich.) was one stroke back at a two-over 74. Megan Wierenga (Jr., Byron Center, Mich.) added a seven-over 79 for Hope's record-setting effort.
• On Saturday, Klintworth surpassed the field by carding a five-over 77 to finish with a two-day total of 151, beating teammate Gielow for medalist honors by two strokes. Saint Mary's Ali Mahoney (Sr., Naperville, Ill.) had the best round of day two with a two-over 74 to lead the Belles in posting a 316 to edge Hope by four strokes for the round.
Hope, Saint Mary's, Olivet and Trine were the top four teams in the standings following six rounds of play and will face off this spring to determine the MIAA automatic qualifier for the 2017 NCAA Women's Golf Championship.
