With the first MIAA Jamboree just around the corner on Sept. 19, MIAA women's golf teams were in action last week gearing up for conference competition:
• At the Trine University Fall Classic Sept. 14, Trine's Jaime Frost (Sr., St. John, Ind.) finished third overall with a five-over 77 to lead the Thunder to a second-place finish. Teammate Julia DeBelly (Sr., Sylvania, Ohio) finished one stroke behind to take fourth with a 78.
• Four teams competed at the Railside D3 Classic Sept. 17, hosted by Calvin College. Alma's Kennedy Hilley (So., Lake Odessa, Mich.) captured medalist honors at the five-team event, firing a two-over 74 to edge Hope's Megan Klintworth (Jr., Jackson, Mich.) by one stroke. Alma finished second overall with a team-record 333, with Hilley's effort tying the program record. Hope's Megan Wierenga (Jr., Byron Center, Mich.) took third with an eight-over 80 as the Dutch took the team title, winning by nine strokes.
