Hope Women Prevail to Capture NCAA Women's Golf Bid

After entering the final two rounds of the 2017 MIAA NCAA Women's Golf Automatic Qualifier tournament with a one-stroke deficit, fall season champions Hope ground out two gritty rounds to surpass Saint Mary's to capture the automatic berth to represent the MIAA at the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship.

The first round had three teams separated by just two strokes, but Hope took the lead after day two with a four-stroke lead over Saint Mary's to lead by three strokes heading into the final day. It was Hope's depth that lifted the Flying Dutch to a 335 score as the team was the lone squad of the field of four to have each of their four scorers under 90 strokes.

Olivet's Laura Bacso finished with the low stroke total for the three rounds, shooting 81-79-81=241 and was among the top three finishers in each of the three days.

The field for the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship will be announced Monday, May 1.
