2018 MIAA Women's Basketball Tournament Central


• Albion tallied two wins on the week to finish tied for third in the MIAA standings. In the Briton's 73-58 win over Saint Mary's Feb. 17, Rain Hinton (Fr., F/C, Fort Wayne, Ind.) scored 11 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter to spur a 30-point effort by Albion in the final 10 minutes.

• Alma finished their regular season with a flourish, tallying two MIAA wins last week. At Adrian Feb. 17, Emily Eldridge (Fr., F, Battle Creek, Mich.) tallied a team-best 15 points.

• In Calvin's lone game of the week, the Knights defeated Olivet Feb. 14, 83-43; Ali Spayde (Sr., G, Lewis Center, Ohio) scored a game-high 21 points in her final game at home.

• #5/#5 Hope posted two MIAA victories last week, including their 86-33 win over Adrian Feb. 14. After just three points separated the two teams after the first quarter, Hope outscored Adrian 24-3 in the second quarter to set the tone the rest of the way. With their 87-48 win over Olivet, the Flying Dutch secured a share of the MIAA title.

• #7/#6 Trine won their lone contest of the week to earn their second consecutive MIAA title. The Thunder defeated Kalamazoo Feb. 17, 69-46, as Trine led by as much as 37 points in the contest.

In the Feb. 19 release of the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, both Hope and Trine maintained their rankings from the previous week of No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

In the Feb. 20 release of the WBCA Top 25 Coaches Poll, Hope stayed at the No. 5 position nationally, while Trine climbed to No. 7 in the country.
