MIAA Women's Basketball Week #14 Wrap-Up

• Trine went on the road for two wins last week to win its first-ever MIAA regular season title. The Thunder defeated Alma Feb. 15, 87-42, thanks to a 19-point performance from Hayley Martin (Jr., F, Auburn, Ind.). Trine then defeated #8 Hope, 70-53, on the road in a battle between the two top ranked teams in the MIAA; Brandi Dawson (So., G, Garrett, Ind.) tallied 21 points while Martin led all scorers with 22 points to go with eight rebounds and five blocked shots.

With their victory, Trine will host the 2017 MIAA Women's Basketball Tournament Feb. 24-25. Hope will take on Calvin in the first semifinal game Friday at 5:30 p.m. with Trine taking on Albion in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m. The winners of both semifinal contests will face off the in the championship game Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
