Albion goes cold in the fourth quarter

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Albion College shot 1-of-11 from the field as its nine-point lead entering the fourth quarter melted in a 60-52 loss to John Carroll University in a non-league women's basketball game.

Albion shot 61 percent from the field in building a 28-10 lead midway through the second quarter. Oreyana Curry made her first three shots and had 10 points early. Curry did not score in the fourth and finished with 13 points.

Emily Zgoda knocked down a three-point basket to forge a tie at 52 with three minutes to play. Albion had a possession to regain the lead, but it turned the ball over. Shmoo Pryor knocked down a jumper and John Carroll led the rest of the way. Katlyn Spahar tacked on a three-point basket and a free throw for the Blue Streaks.

Zgoda, 4-of-7 from three-point range, finished with 14 points in her Albion debut.

Albion will host Illinois Wesleyan University, Oberlin College and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for a tip-off tournament Nov. 20-21. The Britons will challenge Rose-Hulman in the nightcap on Friday.
