Trine's Fox Tops Four MIAA Honorees as NFCA All-American

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced May 24 the 45 players chosen for the 2018 NFCA NCAA Division III All-America softball teams. Those selected were honored during the NCAA Division III Championship banquet at the Sheraton Hotel Downtown in Oklahoma City.

Trine's Kaylee Fox and Erica Robles, and Saint Mary's Jamie Young and Cassie Young represented the MIAA on the elite listing after standout senior seasons.

Fox, a First-Team All-American by the NFCA, finished the 2018 season with 17 home runs, 63 RBI and a .984 slugging percentage in aiding Trine to an NCAA postseason berth. Robles gathered Second-Team All-America accolades after posting a .486 batting average, with a 30-game hitting streak that spanned both the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Cassie Young garnered Third-Team All-America honors after a season where the outfielder ranked in the top 25 nationally in batting average and was in the top 100 in hits, on-base percentage, and RBI. Earlier in 2018, Young set the Saint Mary's standard for career hits. The two-time MIAA Position Player of the Year was a three-time first-team All-Region honoree.

Jamie Young became a three-time All-Region selection earlier this year and gathered Third-Team All-America honors, her first All-American accolade of her career. Young became the Saint Mary's single-season record holder with 69 hits in 2018 and was in the top 100 in seven NCAA statistical categories as a senior.

The NFCA Division III All-America softball teams are selected from the pool of players who earned first team All-Region recognition by eight NCAA Division III head coaches representing the eight NCAA regions.
