Calvin's Anna Gernant (So., P, Wes Des Moines, Iowa) was named the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III National Pitcher of the Week Wednesday after a strong week inside the circle.
It was the second honor in as many days, as on Tuesday Gernant was selected a first-team All-MIAA player for the second consecutive season.
Last week, Gernant went 2-0 against MIAA challengers, tossing a two-hit effort in Calvin's 2-1 win over Olivet; in that contest, Gernant registered 11 strikeouts. It was the second outing of the week where the sophomore eclipsed the double-digit strikeout mark, as her 11 strikeouts in her no-hitter against Albion broke the Calvin program record for strikeouts in a season.
The Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Player and Pitcher of the Week are selected by Division III head coaches representing the eight NCAA regions.
