Carly Searles, Trine, Softball Position Player of the Week

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Trine outfielder Carly Searles its Position Player of the Week in softball for games played through May 1.

Searles, a senior from Levering (Petoskey HS), hit .412 (7-for-17) with two home runs and six runs scored for the Thunder in the MIAA tournament. She set the all-time NCAA Division III record for career hits with her 300th hit, a fifth-inning single, in Trine's 8-7 victory over Alma in the championship game of the tournament. She is already the NCAA career leader in triples with 48, and is the MIAA's all-time career leader in hits (109) and batting average (.505) in conference play. Searles is being honored as Position Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and sixth time in her career.
