Carly Searles, Trine, Softball Position Player of the Week

The MIAA has named Trine outfielder Carly Searles its Position Player of the Week  in softball for games played through April 26.

Searles, a senior from Levering (Petoskey HS), clinched her second MIAA batting championship by hitting .667 (8-for-12) with 10 runs scored, three home runs, four RBI and three stolen bases as Trine won four straight games to wrap up its fourth straight conference championship. She went 3-for-4 with a home run, four runs scored, two RBI and two steals in a 9-0 win over Saint Mary's. Searles finished the season with a .608 batting average in league play, tied her own MIAA single-season record with 31 hits, and is now the MIAA career leader in hits (109), batting average (.505) and triples (18). She is being honored as Position Player of the Week for the third time this season and fifth time in her career.
