The Calvin College men's cross country team finished 17th as a team at the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships Nov. 17, held at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Oshkosh, Wis.
Addison Smith was Calvin's top finisher for the third time in as many appearances, finishing 34th overall with a time of 24:56.3 on the 8K course. Smith improved from an unofficial place of 76th at the 3K mark.
After a rough start, Calvin recovered and at one point were unofficially 10th with three runners in the top 60 spots. However, as the race progressed, the Knights slipped back in the team standings.
North Central was the team winner, posting 43 points thanks to a 1-2 finish by National Champion Dhruvil Patel (24:24.5) and Al Baldonado (24:29.7).
