MIAA Men's Cross Country Week #5 Wrap-Up

Two events hosted five MIAA teams on the week as runners continue to prepare for the upcoming conference championship at the end of the month. Among the highlights:

• Four teams - Albion, Hope, Kalamazoo, and Trine - competed at the 43-team 2016 Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic Saturday in Louisville, Ky. Among MIAA teams, Albion edged Trine in the team standings. Albion's Andrew Bill (Fr., Berkley, Mich.) was the first MIAA harrier to cross the line, finishing 27th ovearll with a time of 25:49.69. Hope's Benjamin Pederson (Jr., Mount Prospect, Ill.) out-kicked fellow MIAA competitor James Weekley (Fr., Farmington Hills, Mich.) of Albion; Pederson finished in 35th with a time of 25:56.06, while Weekley crossed in 26:00.66 for 37th place.

• Calvin competed among Division I and Division II programs at the Joe Piane Invitational Sept. 30, finishing as the highest DIII program with their 10th place finish. Zac Nowicki (Sr., Comstock Park, Mich.) finished 18th overall, crossing in 25:08.2 for the 5-mile race.

• Adrian traveled to western New York to compete at the Mike Woods Geneseo Cross Country Invitational Oct. 1. The Bulldogs finished 11th out of 24 teams, with Conor Stevons (Sr., Rochester Hills, Mich.) finishing 18th overal with a time of 25.54.8.
