On Friday, the NCAA announced the selections for the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, slated for May 23-25 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Five MIAA programs will send at least one competitor to the national event, with Adrian leading with six individuals and one relay team. Calvin will have three individuals particpiating in four events, while Hope will have two individuals competing in three events. Trine and Albion will be sending one student-athlete each.
Both Adrian's Randy Fry and Hope's Justin Freeman will be competing in the 100m and 200m Dash. Other events featuring more than one MIAA competitor are the high jump (Nicholas Jackson, Adrian; Dazmond Lawrence, Adrian) and the 100m Hurdles (Denzel Tinsley, Adrian; Jordan Davis, Adrian).
For each men’s individual event contested, including the decathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each women’s individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.
