Adrian's 4x100 Relay, Calvin's Ferguson top MIAA Finishers at Men's Track & Field Championships

The Adrian men's 4x100m relay team was the top finisher among MIAA performers at the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 24-26 at the Veteran’s Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The quartet of Donovan Ervin, Marcus Higginbottom, Jordan Davis, and Randolph Fry posted a time of 41.15 during their Thursday preliminary race, good for seventh-best out of 16 squads with a time of 41.15 seconds. In the Saturday final, the Bulldogs trimmed their time to 40.86 to finish fifth overall and gain All-America accolades and re-set the Adrian record for the event.

Calvin's Caleb Ferguson finished seventh in the 3,000m steeplechase final, finishing in 9:15.88 to gain All-America honors. Ferguson advanced with a time of 9:26.35, the 14th best time on Thursday and the last time to qualify for the Saturday final. Hope's Benjamin Pederson was 16th in the prelims with a time of 9:30.10.

Adrian's Nicholas Jackson was just outside All-America in the high jump, as the freshman cleared 2.08m but his one miss at 2.06m dropped him out of the top eight; Jackson cleared his first three heights on just one attempt before his miss at 2.06m.

Along with his efforts in the 4x100m dash, Adrian's Davis also competed in the 110m hurdles and the high jump; Davis placed 10th in the prelims of the 110m hurdles, missing advancing to the Saturday final by 0.02 seconds, and placed 20th nationally in the high jump, last clearing 1.98m.

In the decathalon, Hope's Joshua Izenbart finished 16th overall with 6,162 points. His best finish was in the high jump, clearing 2.02m for second-best in the 20-competitor field.
