In the release of the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District selections for men's and women's Track/Cross Country teams, three Calvin student-athletes were honored for their academic and athletic achievements: Katie Diekema and Jenna Dyksen on the women's side, and men's track athlete Ethan Valentine.

Dyksen recently earned All-America honors with her seventh-place finish in the 100m hurdles at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A three-time MIAA Champion in the triple jump and 100m hurdles, Dyksen owns a 3.87 GPA as a Speech Pathology major.

Diekema, also an All-American after a fourth-place finish in the 1,500m run at the NCAAs, has been a three-season competitor for Calvin in cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field. The 2018 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championship Most Valuable Runner boasts a 3.88 GPA in Mechanical Engineering.

Valentine has earned four NCAA III All-America awards and been named the MIAA's Most Outstanding Runner twice; a 400 meter specialist, Valentine has been a four-time national qualifier to the NCAA III Track and Field Championships. Academically, Valentine owns a 3.61 GPA as a double major in Chinese and Biology.

The 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women’s Track/Cross Country Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced in June.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.

The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams.
