Adrian will begin the indoor track and field season Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Trine Invitational.

Alma
Alma traveled to Saginaw Valley State University on Friday (Dec. 7) to begin their 2018-19 indoor season at the SVSU Holiday Classic. Senior Justin Jones (Rockford, Mich./Cedar Springs) set a new personal record in the 3,000-meter run, shaving five seconds off his previous fastest time. Junior Payton Hirschenberger (Freeland, Mich./Saginaw Nouvel) landed in sixth place in the long jump and senior Jared Fleming (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) took 11th place in the 400-meter dash (52.23).
Calvin
Calvin opened up its 2018-19 indoor season on Friday night (Dec. 7) at the Grand Valley Holiday Open. The Knights had a handful of athletes competing in the competition. In the long jump, senior Lee Barents (Redlands, Calif./Arrowhead Christian Academy) and junior Nathan Van Whye (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) both jumped 21-2 1/2. In the weight throw, sophomore Eric Van Eck (Yorba Linda, Ca./Hope PSP) had an impressive throw of 49-0 1/4. Freshman Harold Gee (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) had a time of 38.36 in the 300 meter run. Sophomore Matthew Blanker (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) came up with a time of 2:00.43 in the 800 meters with senior Jacob Buday (Kalamazoo, Mich./Hackett Catholic Central) coming in at 2:03.78. In the 600 meters, freshman Joaquin Martinez-Sabag (Newburg, Ind.) had a time of 1:30.76 with freshman Derek Ten Pas (Sioux Center, Iowa/Sioux Center Community) right behind in 1:30.97. Freshman Jonathan Jansma (Grand Rapids, Mich./The Potter's House) had a time of 1:32.25 with freshman Simon Detmer (Chicago, Ill./Timothy Christian) clocking in at 1:43.44.
Hope
Nick Hoffman (Holland, Mich./Holland) posted a fourth-place finish in the 1-mile run for the Hope College men's indoor track & field team at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open on Friday. The freshman clocked a time of 4:26.46 during the meet that features teams from all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA. Hope finished 19th with six points. Junior Owen Ljung (Sonoma, Calif./Santa Monica) placed eighth in the 800 meters at 1:54.49.
Olivet
Olivet will wait until the turn of the calendar year to begin the season, participating in the Jack Skoog Open Jan. 11 at Central Michigan.
Trine
Competed at the unscored Indiana Tech Aaron Porter Invite. Jeffery Barnett won the long jump with a distance of 23' 9.50". Currently ranks third-best in nation.
