Three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's indoor track and field student-athletes will represent their institutions and the conference this weekend at the 2018 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships March 9-10, hosted by Birmingham Southern College and the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Trine's Jeffery Barnett, the national runner-up in 2017 in the men's long jump, will again compete for a national title. Barnett's best jump of the season was 7.20m, posted last weekend at Ohio Northern's 2018 Polar Bear Final Qualifier; he is seeded 10th in the long jump.
Joining Barnett is teammate Patrick Richardville, who is seeded 12th in the 60m dash. Richardville turned in a time of 6.91 at the 2018 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships to set a new conference record and earn Most Valuable Runner honors.
Albion's Richard Annorat, the 2018 MIAA Most Valuable Field Performer, is the fourth seed in the high jump after clearing 2.11m at the Joe Banks Invitational in February. At the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championship, Annorat set an MIAA record by clearing 2.05m.
Barnett will compete in the long jump on Friday at 11 a.m., with Richardville racing in the preliminaries Friday at 1:30 p.m. Annorat will take to the high jump Saturday afternoon.
