MIAA Men's Tennis Week #1 Wrap-Up

• Calvin tallied two victories to start the 2017 season, defeating Augustana 8-1 and Concordia (Mich.) 9-0. David Brown (Jr., Lake Zurich, Ill.) dropped just one game in his No. 4 singles win against Augustana after failing to drop a game in his No. 2 doubles match.  At No. 2 singles, Brown won 6-0, 6-2 against Concordia and tallied an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles.

• Kalamazoo started the spring strong with a pair of victories against high-ranked opponents. On Feb. 11, the Hornets defeated regionally-ranked Wheaton, 9-0, with No. 15 Branden Metzler (Sr., Rockford, Ill.) notching a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles. On Sunday, Kalamazoo topped No. 11 Kenyon, 6-3. The Hornets took a 2-1 lead after doubles and then notched four singles wins; Daniel Henry (Fr., Kalamazoo, Mich.) came back for a three-set win at No. 2 doubles.
