TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced their All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes for the 2015-16 academic year. Of the programs honored, five Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schools had both their men's and women's tennis programs, along with 59 student-athletes, recognized by the national institution.
Adrian, Calvin, Hope, Kalamazoo, and Olivet all earned team honors from the ITA. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2015 and spring 2016).
On the women's side, 32 student-athletes received ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, while 27 student-athletes were represented for MIAA men's tennis. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner with a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year. They also are required to be enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
