Around the MIAA

RV Albion

A check of the Nov. 14 College Swimming Coaches Association of America polls shows the Albion men tied with Carthage for No. 10 in the region… Jake Huttenlocher set the 11th-fastest time this season in Division III in the 200-yard breaststroke at Wabash, completing his race in 2:06.46. He is 19th among D-III swimmers in the 200 IM (1:55.04)Tyler Kimbrell set the 14th-fastest time in Division III in the 100-yard breaststroke at Wabash, reaching the wall in 57.57 seconds…Mac Robertson is 16th in Division III in the 500-yard freestyle (4:39.28)


Alma

The Alma College men's swimming and diving team hosted Calvin College for a conference dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 17. Senior Eric Ferrara (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) took first place in the men's 1000 yard freestyle, swimming the race in 10:15.05 and nearly beating the current school record time for that event.

Hope

Divers Brian Simonich (Highland, Mich./Milford) and Grant Williams (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) went 1-2 on the 3-meter board for the Hope College men’s swimming & diving team’s top performances at the University of Chicago’s Phoenix Classic this weekend. Simonich, a senior, recorded an 11-dive total of 453.65 points. Williams, a sophomore, posted an 11-dive score of 449.90 points. The Flying Dutchmen competed in only one day of the three-day event that concluded on Sunday and included NCAA Division I, II and III teams. They finished eighth out of 10 teams with 164 points.


Kalamazoo

Did not compete. Kalamazoo returns to action Nov. 29 - Dec. 1 at the Calvin Invitational.


Olivet

Did not compete. Olivet will participate in Carthage Classic Nov. 29-Dec. 1.
