Around the MIAA
Adrian (3-4-0, 0-0)
The Adrian College men’s soccer team split last week on the road, defeating Bluffton and losing to Case Western Reserve. The Bulldogs shutout the Beavers 3-0 on Wednesday for back-to-back shutouts before losing to the Spartans 8-1 on Saturday. Senior captain Tad Davis had two assists on Wednesday and scored the lone goal on Saturday to be named the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Albion (4-2-2, 0-0)
Albion has scored 16 goals in eight contests so far this season. The Britons scored 18 during the entire 2017 campaign…With 10 points Alex Spratte (Canton, Mich.) has already surpassed Albion’s leader from the 2017 season. Spratte has been credited with four goals and two assists this season…Will Colborn (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North) and Christian Hurtado (Glendale, Ariz./Apollo) have three goals apiece this season. Albion has matched the number of players who scored at least three goals last season.
Alma (3-3-0, 0-0)
Junior Kyle Farmer (Greenville, Mich./Greenville) scored two goals, including the game-winner in the final minutes, for the Alma men's soccer team at Aquinas last Tuesday. Junior Noah Canlas (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) also scored, while Senior goalkeeper Andrew Reid (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) made six saves in his first career win.

No. 21 Hope (7-0-0, 0-0)
Christian Dault's creativity in traffic and Logan Bylsma's finishing touch paid big dividends for the Hope College men's soccer team. The pair teamed up three minutes into the second half for the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory against Carthage College (Wisconsin) on Wednesday at Van Andel Soccer Stadium. The 23rd-ranked Flying Dutchmen continued their unbeaten start by improving to 7-0.
Kalamazoo (3-5-0, 0-0)
The Kalamazoo College men’s soccer team went 1-1 again this week. The Hornets began the week with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Michigan-Dearborn before defeating Elmhurst 4-1 on the road. Freshman Alex Wallace continued his strong play into this week and connected on his first career goal against Michigan-Dearborn. The Hornets turned in a total team effort in game two with all four goals coming from different players. Hayden Strobel, Gold Afolabi, Ben Meschke, and Trevor Towghi each connected for Kalamazoo.
Olivet (4-4-1, 0-0)
The Olivet College men's soccer team defeated Iowa Wesleyan, 5-3, in its only game last week. Senior Alistair Law scored two goals, including the first just 27 seconds into the game, to lead the Comets.
