Calvin's Vegter, McCaw, Lyon Named All-Americans by United Soccer Coaches

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the second consecutive year, three Calvin men's soccer players represented the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association on the United Soccer Coaches' All-America teams, the national coaching organization announced Nov. 29.

Two-time MIAA Most Valuable Player Trent Vegter (Sr., D, Hudsonville, Mich.) became the first three-time All-American in Calvin soccer history with his selection to the First Team for the second consecutive year. In 2016, Vegter was a Second Team honoree. The defensive stalwart for the Knights aided Calvin in posting 13 shutouts this year while adding in the attack with three goals and six assists.

Bobby McCaw (Sr., F, Dubuque, Iowa) was selected to the Third Team this fall after gathering Second Team accolades in 2017. On the year, McCaw scored 20 goals to go with 12 assists for 52 points; for his prolific career, McCaw finished four years at Calvin with 61 goals, 23 assists, and 145 points to rank fourth all-time in program history.

Jacob Lyon (Jr., M, Holt, Mich.) garnered Third Team All-America honors, his first national accolade of his careeer. In 2018, Lyon scored two goals to go with five assists as a defensive midfielder.
