Four MIAA Soccer Standouts Earn Academic All-America Accolades from CoSIDA

FREELAND, Mich. – Four student-athletes representing the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association on the soccer field were recognized Friday for their success both in competition and in the classroom with the release of the College Sports Information Directors of America's Academic All-America teams for NCAA Division III men's and women's soccer.

Hope women's soccer standout Elizabeth Perkins was named a CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-American, while Albion men's soccer's Andrew Prince, Kalamazoo women's soccer's Christina Dandar, and Olivet women's soccer's Isabelle Leon were Third-Team Academic All-Americans.

The 2016 campaign marks the first time since 2001 the MIAA had four CoSIDA Academic All-American selections. Perkins' first-team selection marks the first time since 2013 an MIAA soccer player garnered CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-America honors.

Student-athletes must have sophomore academic standing at their institutions and have a cumulative grade-point average at 3.30 or higher and been a first-team academic all-district selection to move onto the national ballot.
