MIAA Men's Lacrosse Week #3 Wrap-Up

• Alma added two victories to their season total last week, winning at Southwestern (Texas) Feb. 27, 15-13, and notching a 10-9 home win over Elmhurst March 4. Against Elmhurst, Daniel Buchy (Jr., Springboro, Ohio) led with four goals while Jared Nycz (So., Elma, N.Y.) noched his 100th career point in the contest. Against Southwestern, Nycz had a team-high four goals, including the final two goals of the contest to lift the Scots.

• Calvin had a split week, which included their 8-6 victory against Heidelberg March 2. The Knights out-shot Heidelberg 36-18, with Michael Winkler (Jr., La Quinta, Calif.) leading the offense with three goals.

• Kalamazoo earned their first victory of the season with a 12-5 result at home against Concordia (Ill.) March 1. The Hornets jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the win, thanks to a goal and three assists from Brett Fitzgerald (So., North Brunswick, N.J.). Fitzgerald finished with three goals and five assists.

• Trine began their 2017 campaign last week, splitting their first two contests of the year. In a 9-2 season-opening victory against Mount St. Joseph March 1, the Thunder scored the first four goals of the game; Trine was led offensively by a four-assist game from Justin Gearig (Fr., Vicksburg, Mich.).
