ALBION, Mich. -- The Albion College men's lacrosse team will be adding hardware to the trophy case as the program celebrates NCAA Division III statistical championships in face-off winning percentage and for Kyle DeCamp in ground balls per game.

DeCamp, a sophomore from Howell, Mich., who was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Most Valuable Defensive Player, averaged more than 12 ground balls per game as he won 70 percent of the face-offs (316 of 449) he took for the Britons. His face-off winning percentage was third-best in Division III.

DeCamp scooped 209 ground balls, 98 more than his Albion single-season record he set during the 2015 season.

"In our program we talk about being team first, and executing to the best of our abilities all over the field so that we can be successful as a team," Head Coach Jake DeCola said. "Kyle has really become a master of his trade, and he worked incredibly hard this year taking almost every draw for us. Everything we do is a team effort, but we certainly benefited from his success, and I think everyone on our team knows that. He deserves a lot of credit for being ranked among the top kids in the country for two years in a row."
