Around the MIAA
Adrian
Adrian will conclude its fall season this weekend at the MIAA Fall Final tournament to be held on the Kaufman Golf Course in Wyoming, Mich….senior Andrew Skibski leads the Bulldogs with a 74.25 stroke average and is sixth in the MIAA with a 74.0 in league events-only…next up, sophomores Hayden Winch (77), Brett McGugan (77.5) and freshman Jackson Tellerico (78.75) are separated by only 1.75 shots on the team’s overall statistics…as a team, the Bulldogs are shooting a 306.25 average… Winch posted his best finish (T-5th) and lowest score (72) at the last MIAA Jamboree in Grand Rapids (Watermark Golf Club).
Albion
Jack Welke (Marshall, Mich.) achieved a career-best 76 in the MIAA Jamboree at the Watermark Country Club last Monday...Justin Kapke, an all-MIAA first team performer last season, remained in contention for another all-league award. He scored 79 on Monday to move his average to 75.5, good for 13th in the league.
Alma
The men's golf finished eighth in the fourth MIAA Jamboree on Monday (Oct. 1) afternoon. Kyle Bodkins (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Central) shot a season-low 78 (+7) to lead Alma's 326 stroke effort. The Scots are seventh in the conference with just the two-round Fall Finale remaining in the fall season.
Calvin
Calvin took place with 294 strokes at MIAA Jamboree #4 at Watermark Country Club on Oct. 1. Senior Sam Kuiper led the Knights scoring a round of 70. Kuiper is currently tied for second place in the MIAA overall individual standings, while the Knights are ranked second overall in team standings.
No. 9 Hope
The ninth-ranked Hope College men’s golf team won the fourth MIAA Jamboree of the season on Monday by firing a league-record, 1-over-par 285 on Monday, October 1 at Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids. The Flying Dutchmen also extended their overall lead to 40 strokes with 36 holes remaining. Hope received a course-record, 3-under-par 68 from senior Josh Gibson of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS) and a 69 from junior Daniel Settecerri of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Bloomfield Hills). Both rounds topped the previous jamboree best of 70.
Kalamazoo
The Kalamazoo College men's golf team finished third at an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Calvin at Watermark Country Club on Tuesday. Kalamazoo shot 296 as a team, just two strokes out of second place and 11 strokes off the lead. Nick Ludka tied for second overall with a career-best 69, one stroke short of medalist honors. Ludka was named MIAA Golfer of the Week for his efforts. Travis Veenhuis and Jackson Jones tied for 12th at 75. Parker Pickell and Mathew Holmes-Hackerd each shot 77. Kalamazoo returns to action Oct. 12-13 at the MIAA Fall Finish in Wyoming, Mich.
Olivet
The Olivet College men's golf team started the week with a seventh-place finish at the MIAA Jamboree #4. The Comets ended the week with a sixth-place finish at the Wabash (Ind.) College Fall Classic. Joey Richmond earned all-tournament honors after tying for sixth in the player standings with a two-round total of 148 strokes.
Trine
Won the rain-shortened Ken Venturi Invitational. Carlos Coeto and Cameron Ruge finished as top duo at -4.
