Calvin strengthened its hold on second place in the MIAA overall team standings by placing second at an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Albion on Thursday and then taking second on its own home course - Watermark Country Club - Monday afternoon. Heading into the 36-hole MIAA Fall Tournament October 12 and 13, Calvin holds a 15-stroke lead over third-place Trine. At the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Albion at the Medalist Golf Club September 27, senior Sam Kuiper shared medalist honors with a round of 73. No. 9 Hope
Tight fairways and lurking hazards challenged the ninth-ranked Hope College men's golf team, but not enough to slow the MIAA leaders. The Flying Dutchmen improved to 3-0 in MIAA Jamborees this fall with a six-stroke victory at The Medalist Golf Club on Thursday. Hope shot a team score of 302 to top the eight-team field as senior Josh Gibson tied for medalist honors with a 1-over-par 73.
