Albion

Albion moved within two strokes of Kalamazoo College in the race for fourth place in the overall standings after achieving a 320 total at The Medalist Golf Club last Thursday…Dillon French (Howell) played in the scoring lineup for the first time this season and he responded with a round of 81. It was his second-lowest round of the season.

Alma

The Alma College men's golf team placed seventh in the fourth MIAA Jamboree on Thursday (Sept. 27) with 343 strokes. Alma is seventh in the conference standings with two tournaments remaining. Senior Bennett Schmitt (Frankfort, Mich. / Frankfort) shot an 84 and both Kyle Bodkins (Ada, Mich. / Forest Hills Central) and Tait Morrissey (Canadian Lakes, Mich. / Big Rapids) posted an 85.

Calvin

Calvin strengthened its hold on second place in the MIAA overall team standings by placing second at an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Albion on Thursday and then taking second on its own home course - Watermark Country Club - Monday afternoon. Heading into the 36-hole MIAA Fall Tournament October 12 and 13, Calvin holds a 15-stroke lead over third-place Trine. At the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Albion at the Medalist Golf Club September 27, senior Sam Kuiper shared medalist honors with a round of 73. Kuiper came back with a round of 70 in Monday's tournament at Watermark and currently is tied for second place in the MIAA individual standings. In sharing medalist honors in the Sept. 27 jamboree, Kuiper joined older brother Ben Kuiper (2010, 2011) as an MIAA Jamboree medalist.

No. 9 Hope

Tight fairways and lurking hazards challenged the ninth-ranked Hope College men's golf team, but not enough to slow the MIAA leaders. The Flying Dutchmen improved to 3-0 in MIAA Jamborees this fall with a six-stroke victory at The Medalist Golf Club on Thursday. Hope shot a team score of 302 to top the eight-team field as senior Josh Gibson tied for medalist honors with a 1-over-par 73.

Kalamazoo

The Kalamazoo College men's golf team finished fifth at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Albion at The Medalist last Thursday. Kalamazoo shot 330 overall, ten strokes out of fourth place. Nick Ludka tied for 12th overall with a 78 to lead the Hornets. Parker Pickell (80), Travis Veenhuis (85) and Jackson Jones (87) rounded out the top four for Kalamazoo. The Hornets return to action on Monday, Oct. 1 at an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Calvin.

Olivet

The Olivet College men's golf team finished eighth at the third MIAA Jamboree at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. Junior Nicholas Hoffman placed third in the player standings with a two-over par 74.
