Around the MIAA

Adrian

Reigning MIAA Men's Golfer of the Week senior Andrew Skibski led the way for Adrian in two events, recording a 72.0 stroke average for three rounds. On Wednesday at the first MIAA Jamboree of the fall, he fired 3-under-par 69 for a second place finish overall, just one shot off the medalist lead, on the Bedford Valley Golf Course. His terrific score is his lowest in any MIAA event that he has competed, covering 20 rounds of Jamboree and tournament play. It is also believed to be a Bulldogs' best round during MIAA competition since Jordan Kelly shot a 65 in the third tournament of the 2010 season. Over the weekend at Adrian's own Irish Hills Intercollegiate Invitational at The Grande Golf Club in Jackson, Mich., the athletic training major shot a 73+74=147 for a seventh-place tie out of 67 individuals and helped Adrian to a fourth-place finish in a competitive 12-team field. As a team, the Bulldogs were tied for fifth (298) in their MIAA Jamboree debut hosted by Olivet College at the Bedford Valley Golf Course. Freshman Jackson Tellerico also had a strong week with a 75 at the Jamboree and 76+73=149 at the Irish Hills event, with his 73 signaling a career low so far in his collegiate career. The Bulldogs are back in action next Saturday (1 p.m.) for the MIAA Jamboree #2 hosted by Trine University at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.

Albion

Soti Michalos shot 3-over par 75 in both rounds as Albion College finished eighth in the Irish Hills Invitational at The Grande Golf Club...Patrick Kelly was also consistent for the Britons with rounds of 75 and 76.

The Alma men's golf team finished seventh in the first MIAA Jamboree on Wednesday (Sept. 12) and 11th at the Irish Hills Invitational over the weekend. Freshman Eli Pinter (Muskegon, Mich. / Reeths-Puffer) shot a week-low 77 at the Jamboree; senior Kyle Bodkins (Ada, Mich. / Forest Hills Central) shot a 79. Pinter came back with a 79 in round one of the Irish Hills Invite.

Calvin

Took second place with 292 strokes at MIAA Jamboree #1. Individually, freshman Andrew Lack had a round of 72 to tie for eighth place; seniors Sam Kuiper and Alec DeJonge shot a round of 73 to tie for 10th place. Calvin took third place with 594 strokes for a two day 36-hole tournament at Irish Hills Invitational on the weekend. Kuiper shot a total of 147 shooting 70 on day one and 77 on day two.
