Members from the Calvin, Hope, and Trine men's golf teams garnered postseason accolades May 15-18 with the release of the Golf Coaches Association of America Division III PING First-Team All-Americans, Division III PING All-Region, and Division III Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars.
Hope's Josh Gibson was named one of eight Division III PING First-Team All-Americans, following the conclusion of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.
Joining Gibson as a Great Lakes Division III PING All-Region selection were teammates Kade Hoeksema and Daniel Settecerri, Calvin's John Van Noord and Ben VanScoyk, and Trine's Grant McKay.
Earning All-America Scholar honors were Hope's Gibson, Andrew Goble, Hoeksema, and Ben Kramer.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 79.0 in Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
UPDATE, June 20: On Wednesday, the GCAA finalized their postseason awards with the announcement of second team, third team, and honorable mention All-America lists. Along with Hope's Josh Gibson, Calvin's Ben VanScoyk (second team) and Hope's Daniel Settecerri (honorable mention) were recognized on the national level.
