Hope Finishes MIAA-Record Sixth at 2017 NCAA Men's Golf Championship

Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. - The Hope men's golf team shot a team-best three-over 291 Friday, bolstered by 12 birdies on the back nine, to finish sixth at the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships.

Their sixth-place effort not only is best in Hope College history, but improves on the all-time best team finish by any MIAA school, set by Olivet's seventh-place mark in 1998.

Led by individual champion Josh Gibson, Hope improved their team score each day after starting 18th on day one with a 306. Hope then scored an 11-over 299 to vault into a tie for eighth and make the 18-team cut. On Thursday, the Flying Dutchmen climbed to sixth place thanks to a 10-over 298 before Friday's three-over 291.

Two more Hope players finished in the top 30: Winton Munch (T24th) and Kade Hoeksema (29th). Munch moved up eight spots on Friday with an even-par 72 to finish with a 10-over 298; Hoeksema finished with an 11-over 299 over four rounds.

Calvin individual John Van Noord finished tied for 121st with a 16-over 160.
