MIAA Men's Basketball Week #2 Wrap-Up

• Albion rebounded from a 78-75 setback to Heidelberg Nov. 22 with a gutsy 73-72 win at Mount Union Nov. 26. The Brits held Mount Union scoreless for over six minutes to rally from a 12-point deficit; Darius Branch (Fr., G, Chicago, Ill.) led with 20 points to hand the Purple Raiders their first loss of the season.

• Hope hosted the four-team Hall of Fame Classic last week, defeating Aquinas Nov. 25, 93-80, before dropping their first contest of the season, a 95-78 loss to Cornerstone Nov. 26. In the win over Aquinas, Dante Hawkins (Jr., G, Holland, Mich.) led all scorers with 24 points, while Harrison Blackledge (Sr., F, Canton, Ohio) talled a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds.

• Kalamazoo split their week of action, fending off Oberlin Nov. 25, 74-70, before a 88-79 setback against Illinois Tech Nov. 26. Kalamazoo was led by Adam Dykema (So., F, Grand Rapids, Mich.) and his 20-point, nine-rebound effort in the win over Oberlin.

• Olivet raced out to a 54-33 halftime lead in their win over Heidelberg Nov. 26 as the Comets went on to post a 97-79 win in their home opener. Aaron Washington (Sr., G, Fort Wayne, Ind.) highlighted the contest with a 32-point performance, fueled by an 8-of-11 effort from three-point range. Eric Ewing (Sr., G, Harper Woods, Mich.) added 25 points and 15 rebounds to go with six assists in an all-around effort. The Comets ended the week with a tough 76-74 setback to Earlham Nov. 27.

• Trine went 1-1 on the week, starting with an 84-77 win over Manchester Nov. 23. In the victory, the Thunder kept Manchester at arm's length, leading all but 2:32 of the contest. Will Dixon (Sr., G, Indianapolis, Ind.) went 12-of-20 on the way to a 31-point outing, as four starters reached double figures in scoring. Ellis Cummings (Jr., C, Ottawa Hills, Ohio) notched a double-double with 12 points to go with a team-high 11 rebounds.
