Postseason accolades continue to accumulate for Harrison Blackledge, a senior forward on the Hope men's basketball team. On Tuesday, Blackledge was named the 2017 Jostens Trophy recipient for men's basketball, an award given to an outstanding student-athlete for their excellence in competition, in the classroom, and in the community.
The Jostens Trophy is a joint honor between Jostens, Inc., and the Rotary Club of Salem, Va. Along with the trophy, a $1,000 Wooldridge Scholarship donation will be made to Hope College.
On the court, Blackledge averaged over 20 points per game while shooting 56.9 percent from the field on the way to being named the MIAA Most Valuable Player and was an integral part in the Flying Dutchmen reaching the Sweet 16 in the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
Academically, Blackledge owns a 3.91 grade-point average and was named a first-team Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) earlier this year. Among Blackledge's community work are committments to Special Olympics and the Miracle League.
Blackledge is the first men's basketball player from the MIAA to earn the Jostens Trophy; women's basketball players Lisa Winkle (2007) and Carissa Verkaik (2013) of Calvin College were previously honored.
