Hussein, Oakes have hot shooting nights at Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio – Travell Oakes and Jibreel Hussein combined to shoot 10-of-18 from the field, but the rest of the Albion College team shot 6-for-33 as the Britons suffered a 68-50 setback to Division I rival Wright State University Tuesday night.

The host Raiders shot 52 percent (29-of-56) for the game.

Albion forged a 5-5 tie when Hussein knocked down a three-point basket with 14 minutes left in the first half.

Mark Alstork and Alan Vest hit three-point shots and Michael Karena added an old-fashioned three-point play to power the Raiders on a 14-2 run. Wright State led by as many as 15 before settling for a 34-22 lead at halftime.

Wright State outscored Albion, 34-28, in the second half.

Oakes finished with 13 points and five rebounds, while Hussein chipped in with 12 points. Jordan Herron pulled down 12 rebounds.

Wright State's Karena led all players with 17 points.

Albion returns to Division III competition with a Saturday game at Elmhurst, Ill., College.
