Albion (5-3, 2-3)

Checking the NCAA Division III statistical leaders, Albion’s offense has generated 220 first downs (good for third), nearly 524 ½ yards of total offense per game (fourth) and nearly 43 points per game (14th)…QB Kyle Thomas (Wixom, Mich./Walled Lake Western) generated 459 yards of total offense at Trine last Saturday. It was his second game this season with at least 450 yards of total offense. He is 9th in D-III in total offense at nearly 326 yards per game and 12th in points responsible for (174)…DE Mitchell Arendsen (Zeeland, Mich./Holland Christian) is 15th in sacks, averaging 1.13 per game.

Alma (1-7, 0-5)

The Scots fell to Hope on Saturday (Oct. 27), 52-23. The Flying Dutchmen had a strong game on the ground, posting 375 rushing yards and five touchdowns. The Scots outgained Hope through the air, 158 yards to 154, behind junior Mason Ippel's (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) 116 yards passing and junior Chase Hinkle's (Concord, Mich./Concord) 90 yards on four receptions. Alma honored its 21 seniors prior to the game; senior Bailey Proctor (Bellaire, Mich./Bellaire) capped his four-year career with his first rushing touchdown.

Hope (6-2, 4-1)

The Hope College football team rode a dominating first-half performance to its fourth straight victory Saturday afternoon as the Flying Dutchmen defeated Alma, 52-23. The Flying Dutchmen improved to 4-1 in the MIAA and 6-2 overall. Hope piled up a season-high 529 yards of total offense, including 375 on the ground, and had 27 first downs. Senior Mike Miklusicak (Wayland, Mich./Wayland) rushed for 210 yards on 20 carries, making him the 10th Hope back in school history to top 2,000 career rushing yards. He now has 2,062 rushing yards for his career. He has gone over the 100-yard mark in a game eight times in his career and more than 200 yards twice.

Kalamazoo (7-1, 4-1)

The Kalamazoo College football team's winning streak came to an end with a 21-17 loss at Olivet last Saturday. After winning the first seven games of the season for the first time since 1962, Kalamazoo is now 7-1 (4-1) and tied for second place in the MIAA. Zach VanFaussien was 17-of-31 passing for 199 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Anthony Giovanni finished with eight catches for 68 yards with the two scores. Jake Sypniewski led the Hornet defense with 14 total tackles. Jake Osen finished with 13 while Jakob Frederick was credited with ten. Kalamazoo is currently tied with Hope (6-2, 4-1 MIAA) for second place in the MIAA. The Hornets travel to Holland for a 1 p.m. kickoff next week.

Olivet (5-3, 3-2)

Jamaul Martin rushed for 196 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Olivet College football team to a 21-17 comeback win over Kalamazoo. The Comets finished the game with 319 yards, 236 on the ground and 83 through the air. Martin needed 22 carries to gain his 196 yards. Matthew Ellis had 11 rushes for 54 yards. Lane Porter completed 12-of-14 passes for the 83 yards. Nick Thomas and Jacob Jodway each had four receptions for 32 and 26 yards, respectively. Anthony Merriman topped the defense with seven tackles, including six solo stops.
