Trine to Host St. Norbert in First Round of NCAA Division III Football Championship

Trine to Host St. Norbert in First Round of NCAA Division III Football Championship

The Trine University football team, fresh off an unblemished Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association season, will host St. Norbert Saturday, Nov. 17, in a first round game of the 2018 NCAA Division III Football Championship.

Game time is slated for noon ET at Fred Zollner Stadium.

Trine (10-0) gained the MIAA's automatic berth for the second consecutive season after their second-straight unbeaten record against conference challengers. Last season, the Thunder advanced to the NCAA Second Round after an opening-round win over Monmouth (Ill.) at home. All time, Trine is 3-4 in the national tournament; the Thunder will be making their fifth appearance overall.

St. Norbert (9-1) captured the Midwest Conference automatic berth after defeating Monmouth 10-7 Nov. 10 for the Knights' eighth-consecutive win of the season. This is the first-ever meeting between St. Norbert and Trine.

The winner of Trine/St. Norbert will face the winner of UW-Whitewater vs. Eureka Saturday, Nov. 24, at a time and location to be determined. The 2018 NCAA Division III Football Championship will culminate with the Stagg Bowl Friday, Dec. 14, in Shenandoah, Texas.
